ECO-PRODUCTS INTERNATIONAL FAIR 2006

WMRAS, together with SPRING Singapore and Asian Productivity Organization organised Eco-products International Fair 2006 last November. Being one of the lead organisers of the fair, WMRAS received a strong support from the Singapore government agencies as well as business partners to hold the inaugural event in Singapore.

Held for the first time in Singapore and occupying 7,300 square metres of the exhibition area , the fair was the biggest to date to be organised in the series of fairs, which were held previously in Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur. was the biggest to date to be organised in the series of fairs, which were held previously in Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur.

This debut show provided a useful platform for the key industry players and stakeholders to showcase the latest technologies, products and services in the areas of environmental development, enterprise and lifestyle.

APPOINTMENT OF ASSOCIATION ADVISOR

WMRAS is very honored to have Dr. Amy Khor, Mayor, South West District, Chairman of Government Parliamentary Committee (GPC) for National Development & the Environment as the Association Advisor. With her leadership and vast knowledge within the environmental sector, the association aims to develop new environmental initiatives that help to profile the waste management and recycling industry.
 

 

 
 
Year 2003
SIGNING OF MOU WITH THE CHARTERED INSTITUTION OF WASTE MANAGEMENT, UK

To establish greater co-operation with overseas institutions in professionalizing the industry, WMRAS signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM) of UK on 10 November 2003 at Melbourne, Australia. The affiliation will assist in foster collaboration between the 2 organisations in raising the standards of the industry.
ENVIRO ASIA 2003

WMRAS together with the National Environment Agency (NEA) organised its inaugural show - Enviro Asia 2003 on 30 October - 1 November 2003 at Singapore Expo. Enviro Asia 2003 was one of the signature shows under the Global Entrepolis @ Singapore 2003, an event organised by EDB.

Dedicated to the environmental management industry, Enviro Asia 2003 was opened and officiated by Minister Lim Swee Say. The event attracted a total of more than 100 representing companies participating in the exhibition.

In conjunction with Enviro Asia 2003, conferences themed A Sustainable Environment, A Better Tomorrow were organised to address issues on the solid waste, recycling, hazardous waste, bio-waste, water and wastewater management. A panel of 22 local and international speakers was present to share with participants on their experiences and knowledge on the various subject matters. More than 70 participants attended the conferences.

LAUNCH OF WASTE MANAGEMENT & RECYCLING INDUSTRY FORUM AND GROUNDBREAKING INDUSTRY REPORT

WMRAS together with Enterprise Promotion Centres (EPC) and with support from the National Environment Agency (NEA) launched its first industry forum entitled “Opportunities and Prospects of the Waste Management and Recycling Industry in Singapore” and industry report on 6 March 2003 at Grand Copthorne Waterfront Singapore.

The industry forum was organised as a result of the completion of an industry-wide study, commissioned by WMRAS, to generate useful information on the waste management and recycling industry and chart the way forward for the industry in Singapore and region.

NATIONAL MEMBER OF INTERNATIONAL SOLID WASTE ASSOCIATION

WMRAS became a National Member of the internationally acclaimed body, the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA).
 
Year 2002
SIGNING OF MOU WITH SOLID WASTE ASSOCIATION OF NORTH AMERICA

WMRAS signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) on 12th September 2002 to establish a collaborative framework and affiliate status with them.
LAUNCH OF MEMBERS’ DIRECTORY 2002/2003

WMRAS launched its first publication of members’ Directory in September 2002. The directory help to serve as a reference for the industry to promote strategic partnerships amongst companies as well as providing industry information extracted from the findings of the industry study initiated by the Association.
SIGNING OF MOU WITH WASTE MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION OF AUSTRALIA

WMRAS signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Waste Management Association of Australia (WMAA) on 20th March 2002. The alliance with WMAA would act as a springboard for local industry players to have good access to the Australian market and provide opportunities for strategic partnerships amongst the companies.
GREEN LEAF AWARD

WMRAS has been nominated in the Green Leaf Award 2002. WMRAS was awarded the Green Leaf Award 2002 in both the Organisations and the Partnership Category.

LAUNCH OF ASSOCIATION AT WATER AND WASTETECH ASIA 2001

Minister Lim Swee Say, the Acting Minister for the Environment, officially launched the Association on 12th September 2001. The Association also organise a Singapore Pavilion to showcase the capabilities of the local waste management and recycling industry. A total of 18 companies participated in the Singapore Pavilion.
