ENVIRO ASIA 2007 |

Suntec International Convention & Exhibition Centre
WRMAS, together with Singapore Water Association (SWA) and Singapore Association for Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety Companies (SAFEco) are the Association's Partners in the new Enviro Asia 2007 event.
Enviro Asia 2007 is the integrated show of Enviromex, Watermex and Enviro Asia, to be held in Singapore in November 2007. This will be the biggest environmental exposition to showcase exhibitors' most advanced environmental technologies, explore business collaborations and raise public awareness of environmental products and services.
Held in conjunction with Enviro Asia 2007, WMRAS together with the National Environment Agency (NEA) is organising a forum themed "Sustainable Waste Management and Technology Forum 2007". This forum to be held on 27 November 2007 aims to provide a platform to share ideas and experiences of sustainable waste management among international experts and industry players.

WMRAS organised a mission trip to Amsterdam in 21-28 September 2007. The objectives of the mission trip are to help members to establish and enhance bilateral economic relationship and explore area of business co-operation between Singapore and other companies around the world.

ECO-PRODUCT INTERNATINAL FAIR (EPIF) 2006 |

WMRAS, together with SPRING Singapore and the Asian Productivity Organization (APO) organised EPIF 2006 in Singapore. The fair was held in Singapore for the first time.
Chaired by Dr Amy Khor, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of the Environment & Water Resouces and Advisor to WMRAS and supported by many leading government agencies, trade associations and members, the fair attracted a participation of 107 international exhibitors as well as more than 34,000 visitors in three days.
The debut show helps to raising the public's awareness of environmentally-friendly products and services and their benefits. It provided a business platform for members as well as enterprises to meet to explore business collaborations and enhance the potential of green markets in Singapore and the region. Besides opportunities for sharing and networking, the fair also offered insights into the state-of-the art environmental technologies and solutions.

MISSION TRIP TO COPENHAGEN
– ISWA CONGRESS 2006 |

WMRAS organised a mission trip to Copenhagen, Demark to seal the ISWA (International Solid Waste Association) Annual Congress which will be held in Singapore in November 2008. This trip was led by Dr Amy Khor, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, Mayor of South West District and Advisor to WMRAS. The trip was joined by representatives from the government agencies and members of WMRAS. The objectives of the mission trip are to create business and networking opportunities for participants with the waste management and recycling companies in Copenhagen, Denmark; and exchange with key government officials and municipal officials; to explore potential business partners / agents; as well as to increase the participants’ awareness of business opportunities such as joint ventures and investments, latest product knowledge and trends.

ENVIRO ASIA 2005 |

Following its debut success in 2003, WMRAS has its 2nd presentation - EnviroAsia 2005. This event was organised by Waste Management & Recycling Association of Singapore (WMRAS) & Singapore Water Association (SWA) and co-organised by National Environment Agency (NEA) and Public Utilities Board (PUB).
To assist companies maximise their participation benefits at Enviro Asia 2005, WMRAS put in place the inaugural PSA (Pre-Scheduled Appointments) program to match-make exhibiting companies with their visiting buyers, thus effectively managing exhibiting time. In addition, the PSA program was held in conjunction with the hosted buyer’s program, which works as a complimentary scheme to assist companies bring in their desired buyers from around the region.
A Green Living section was also set up in the exhibition where visitors have a glimpse of the viability of eco-friendly living concept from the Eco-House constructed by the Singapore Environment Council (SEC).
In conjunction with the exhibition, the International Environment Summit 2005 (IES 2005) had brought together experts and participants around the world to address the issues pertaining to the waste and water related issues and also the available technologies and solutions. It was also envisaged to be an interactive ground for industry leaders to share their valuable experiences in working towards environmental sustainability.

CLEAN AND GREEN WEEK 2005 |

WMRAS participated in the annual campaign Clean & Green Week 2005 to raise environmental awareness. Prime Minister, Mr Lee Hsien Loong was the Guest-of-Honour for the launch of the campaign and about 23 MPs with 2,000 invited guests attended the launch ceremony. There were more than 100 booths, a flea mart, performances, sporting activities, water sports, arts and nature appreciation including tree planting activities.

NATIONAL RECYCLING DAY 2005 |

WMRAS participated in the National Recycling Day 05. This time, NEA commemorated their second Recycling Day at three different locations - Dunman Secondary School, Yew Tee (Grass patch & hard court beside MRT) and Bukit Ho Swee CC. The bulk of the events were held at Dunman Secondary School and the programmes included the game booth competition from the schools, various communities and school performances, the exchange of recyclables for tokens by the PWC and an attempt to set a record for the longest chain of plastic bottles.

WMRAS has been invited as one of their partners for the event and Ms Loh Wai Khiew, Chairman of WMRAS was also being invited to speak at the seminar on “Recycled materials – Closing the Loop”.
The event comprises a half-day seminar and a full day exhibition. The aims of the event were to promote the use of recycled materials in building construction and to encourage environmental sustainable building designs. Recycled materials/products and innovative environmental technologies will be showcased, some of which are being test-bedded in Biopolis. Members attended the event took a tour of Biopolis to view the various eco-friendly features.

NATIONAL RECYCLING DAY 2004 |

Singapore’s first ever Recycling Day was organised by NEA, WMRAS, SEC and People’s Association (PA) in partnership with the Public Waste Collectors. The event aimed to remind residents and 3P (People, Private and Public) partners the importance of waste recycling as a means to reduce the amount of waste disposed at incineration plants and landfills. The event was launched by Dr Yaccob Ibrahim, Minister for the Environment and Water Resources. |

WMRAS CHARITY BOWLING TOURNAMENT |

WMRAS organised its first charity bowling tournament to raise funds for charity. Mr Lim Swee Say, Minister for the Environment, was the Guest-of-Honour for the charity event. Lending their support to the tournament were Dr Amy Khor, Member of Parliament, Hong Kah GRC, Hong Kah North Constituency; BG (NS) Lam Joon Khoi, CEO of National Environment Agency, members of the Association and partners of the environmental industry.
Through this first care event of WMRAS, the association raised more than $15,000 which were donated to the Bukit Batok Home for the Aged - a home for the elderly destitute which provides medical, health care and rehabilitative services to its 200 residents.
