This unit of competency covers the skills and knowledge to sort materials, such as metals, glass, wood, paper or plastics into appropriate containers to ensure correct processing and usage at the Material Recovery Facility (MRF). It also includes knowledge to discard inferior or defective products and/or foreign matter, and place acceptable products in containers for further processing.

Minimum Entry Requirements
- Be able to listen and speak English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills System (ESS) Level 2.
- Be able to read and write English at a proficiency level equivalent to Employability Skills System (ESS) Level 2.
- Be able to manipulate numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to Employability Skills System (ESS) Level 2.

** The above mentioned fees are Nett fees after Skills Future Singapore (SSG) funding. For details of funding and absentee payroll, please refer to published funding rates here.
** To be eligible for the various fundings, the company has to update the company’s profile on https://www.skillsconnect.gov.sg/web/guest/applyforcompanyprofile. Thereafter, the company can apply for the various grants.
** Upon registration of the course and recceipt of the invoice from WMRAS, submit your grants (training and absentee payroll) within 30 days before the course start date and no later than 30 days after course start date.
Appeal & Reassessment
The Statement of Attainment (SOA) will not be issued to trainee who has been assessed as “Not Yet Competent”. Trainee who wish to undergo another assessment for a `Competent’ result will need to undergo training and assessment for the whole module again.
Where there are reasons to appeal against the assessor’s decision, an appeal may be submitted in writing to WMRAS within 5 working days from the assessment date stating clearly the ground(s) for appeal. If the appeal is successful, a fresh round of assessment will be conducted at a fee of $100. If the appeal is unsuccessful, the trainee will have to undergo the training and assessment again.
