Course Objectives:
Riding on the momentum of our recent fruitful trip to Sydney, we are now getting ready for our next BBL trip. This time it will be to Hong Kong – a city known for sound government support towards innovative waste management and environmental sustainability practices; good participation from the community and ground-up endeavours, as well as successful “from research to implementation” solutions.
WMRAS endeavours to begin each Beyond Borders Learning trip with the end in mind
for all participants to be able to:
- Be equipped with strategic insights on integrating environmental and social sustainability into business models
- Explore cases and innovations in waste management, circular economy, and environmental technologies, linking relevance to Singapore’s context
- Appreciate cross-border ESG trends, regulatory landscapes, and stakeholder engagement strategies
- Foster leadership for sustainability-driven workforce transformation

- 3.5 Days of Lectures and Workshops by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) on Net Zero Institute on Valorisation, Carbon, Waste Management in Hong Kong, Challenges and Opportunities
- Visit To ReThink HK
- Business Dialogues
- Technical Site Visits
- Cultural Visit to Jockey Club – The Conservancy Association Urban Foresty Green Hub and the Nam Cheong Urban Park
Minimum Entry Requirement:
- Management, Middle managers and/or supervisors holding full-time or concurrent roles relating to sustainability within their own and/or their clients’ premises
- Could be performing other functions (for example, retail, facilities, property management, operations, sustainability and Environment, Health & Safety (EHS), etc.)
- Should possess a basic understanding of waste management, recycling, sustainability
